Question by Michelle: Why is the online tax software making me pay the full dollar amount back?
My husband’s employer changed their EIN this year. As a result of this he received another w2 without any federal with holdings on the 600.00 he earned in that period. Any Online tax system I have tried ( been thru about 3 now) says that we have to pay the IRS back the FULL 600.00. Is that right? Wouldn’t they just tax the 600.00? Is it worth it to go to a tax preparer?

have you tried all the different pkgs?
if there are two valid EIN’s there should not be a problem and it may be coincidence that the amount of tax due and the $ 600 income, very unlikely
