I heard that american income tax is voluntary as constitution and laws are concerned. Is this true?
milanciga asked:

No, it is not voluntary–some people do say that, but hopefully they will be arrested soon.
Um… no, that’s not true at all. Legally, they can seize your property and even put you in jail if you don’t pay your income tax.
No, it is not voluntary. It WAS voluntary when it first started, but because so many people ended up destitute in their retirement years, that was changed.
Don’t pay your taxes and eventually the answer to your question will come knocking at your door.
not voluntary…i wish
It’s true. Taxes are completely voluntary, you don’t have to pay them if you don’t want. Watch Farenheit 9-11. Michael Moore shows us how taxes were and evil plot devised by George Prescott Bush to atain wealth!! It’s true. I saw it in a movie!
The Income Tax amendment was not passed by all the states. To become an amendment 75% of the states have to ratify it without making corrections, this did not happen. The amendment barley passed to begin with, some states changed a few words around; while some didn’t even sign it, basically the fact that our income is taxed is completely illegal. What is even funnier is that the Federal Reserve is a privately owned corporation, the people that print and control your money are not an actually a branch of our government.
we claimed that the taxation of the colonies of england was unjust under english common law as we had no direct representatives in the house of commons and used that as reason to revolt but it was about the fact that we were a trading nation and wanted to not be taxed on goods going out and coming back so the colonies went to war and then rallied and the french helped us and we won and then they immediatly started taxing the people that sold and bought any thing in the colonies as states and that caused a second uprising by the westerners that were not in the states to sell their licker and things they had to be taxed so they tarred the tax man and then sold the goods to the french and spanish down in nawlins but now we dont even get the money before they take it away and then we have to try to get some back at the end of a year thats what we fought the british to stop the taxing of our goods before a vote from our senators and representatives
Obviously you are not living in the US. Taxes are not voluntary. Taxes are taken out of everyone paychecks and businesses are paying self-employment taxes as well. You must declare all income received from all sources and you are then taxed according to a set percentage of that amount.
Its voluntary as long as you pay it, if you don’t they will involuntarily put you in jail.
That is not true. This is America, land of the free. You can own anything you want as long as you pay taxes on it. Buy a house and pay property tax EVERY year or they take it away. Buy a car and pay to have your license plates renewed EVERY year or you can’t drive it. But anything and pay sales tax. Earn an income and pay income tax. So as you can see, in the land of the free you are taxed when you earn money, taxed when you spend money, and don’t forget the tax on your coffin.
Actually, you can still ask your employer to NOT withhold your taxes & the burden of payment will then fall on you, as the employee to pay what is owed to the local, State, & Federal Agencies. Many employers do not wish to do this, because they do not understand the paperwork & are not willing to risk being fined after the employee has passed the $600.00 point that puts them in the category of needing a 1099 for being a self-employed sub-contractor, rather than a plain old employee with the usual benefits attached.
They tell you you are signing their form voluntarily. Your not, you are doing it at the point of gun. I think the days of the IRS are about over. People are very fed up with them.
No, taxes are not voluntary.
