If the gas sales tax was made voluntary for the summer, would those who call it a gimmick still pay it?

voluntary tax
riverotter1968 asked:

Would those opposed to a gas sales tax holiday voluntarily pay the tax if they think it’s a good idea?

Or would they save a couple of bucks per fill up like everyone else?
you didn’t answer the question, wyld

If they pass that gimmick you won’t pay less at the pump, the oil companies will just make 18 cents more per gallon. Our roads will deteriorate a little more and unemployment will go up among highway workers.

  • Of course they won’t. However, it should not be implemented, regardless.

nobama says you’re wrong it only comes out to .30 per fill up, i guess he let’s Michelle pump the gas?

  • Oh, Hell no they wouldnt.

They would be pocketing the cash and running like a Frenchman from thunder….

  • I don’t think it is a good idea, now I’ll tell you why,Lets say they drop the price by a buck, O.K.? So all summer long you pay the lower price and you get used to paying it and thats what you set your budget by it, works pretty good for a while, and then all of a sudden the price goes back up a buck and all the other increases that would have taken place even with the lower prices and there will be a lot of them(just the price of oil alone) will do it, Oh My God, what do I do now? I can’t afford this. Don’t drop the price. Leave it alone, that way you won’t have a heart attack when it goes back up plus. Think about it.

  • John V:

Of course they wouldn’t, what is your point?

  • No and they wouldn’t even save the couple of bucks per fill up by the time the oil companies raised their prices to cover it.
