If the government has some kind of voluntary tax increase, would you voluntarily pay more taxes?

voluntary tax
tlic77 asked:

Huckabee had once done this in his State (“Tax Me More Fund”) which was a voluntary fund for people who felt that the government needed to raise more taxes.

So, would you voluntarily pay more taxes?

I would think many Democrats would gladly volunteer to pay more taxes. You guys think this is a correct assumption? Why or why not?

  • Didn’t they try this and only 11% voluntarily paid tax?

  • Sherry B:

It would depend on what the extra funds would be alloted for. If it was to further Bush’s war, then heck no. But if it went to pay for things like veterans benefits or public education then yes I would.
And, BTW, I am a proud Democrat.

  • I’ve always wondered why Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Bill Clinton, for example since they are always claiming to be taxed too little, don’t just take half their net worth and gift it to the government as a “fair share” of taxes. If they weren’t TOTALLY FULL OF S**T they would do so.

But of course, they ARE totally F-O-S!

If Congress suddenly decided to pass a law whereby all personal net worth wealth over, say, ten million dollars, would be taxed at a rate of 100%, to fund public infrastructure, health care, education, retirement, etc… the FIRST ONES SCREAMING ABOUT IT would be the ultra-rich liberals, and there would be ultra-rich actors doing ads against it, and the ultra-rich would be vowing to leave the United States if the law passed.

The rich don’t pay taxes. PERIOD. The amount they pay is a pittance, less than 5%! There are so many gimmicks — ironically that ANYONE from any income level can use, but most of us do not — to avoid paying taxes, and the rich know them all.

Every single scheme to tax the rich inevitably ends up getting paid by the middle class. That is, after all, where the real money is.
