Is it voluntary to pay your income tax? ?
AM_kindofguy asked:
The IRS Tax Code say it is. Maybe a CPA could help out. Income Tax does not apply to wages of labor demeed by the Supreme Court so I would not have to pay or even file my taxes if i work for a hourly salary right?

Not really sure. Why don’t you try it and tell us how things go?
You have no choice but to pay your income tax. I don’t know what you read, but if you choose not to pay it, you can go to jail.
Nope … it is mandatory to file your taxes unless you do not meet the minimum filing income levels/
nope you have to pay your taxes
the IRS will be out to get you if you dont file for an extension or pay your taxes by april 15th
i’ve seen statements saying you have to pay them regardless of what ron paul says. or where ever this came from. you do have a more detailed version of the story with hourly wages. I’ve worked most my life in hourly wage jiobs and i don’t really pay taxes, i file but am usually due back more just because i make 4k a year sometimes. i don’t know if that has to do with the fact that i am paid ariound minimum wage or the hourly law you mention. either it’s the same, people in that position aren’t paying taxes anyway.
Absolutely. You can choose to pay your tax, or to go to jail. But usually the IRS won’t send you to jail; they will simply help themselves to as much of your assets as they want.
There are people who have been challenging the legality of taxes for years. There are guys who write articles and give seminars on how you don’t have to pay your taxes. It doesn’t work. The actor, Wesley Snipes, was trying to pull that with his lawyers. Now he is going to jail. Google him and check out the story. You gotta pay your taxes, Dude.
No, the Tax Code does NOT say that paying income tax voluntary. You obviously never read it.
The self-assessment portion of income tax filing is voluntary, however if you don’t file the IRS will file a return on your behalf and bill you for the tax that they reckon you owe. Since they have no information on your filing status, exemptions, deductions, etc. their assessment will virtually always be higher than yours was.
And you obviously have no clue about the various rulings from the Supreme Court. There is NO ruling from the court that states that wages are not taxable.
Stop listening to the Tax Kooks! They will get you trouble faster than slapping a cop. Just ask Wesley Snipes!
The only “voluntary” part is that you get to decide which form to use and when to send it in.
THINGS I DIDN’T KNOW UNTIL I SAW THEM ON THE INTERNET:
Nobody ever really landed on the moon – it was a giant hoax. What you saw on TV was filmed in Utah.
Elvis is still alive, and performing marriage ceremonies in Las Vegas.
It is unconstitutional for the government to tax your wages (income tax), the 16th amendment was never ratified, and most of what we think of as income isn’t really income anyway.
Excuse me now….I just won 2 million pounds in the online UK lottery when my email was randomly selected, and I have to go answer the email…..
;-}
Section 62 of the IRS code says all income must be taxed unless either was specified in the code. Now the timing in which you make your payments depends on your income. If you make over 100,000 a year you might have to make quarterly payments. Otherwise, all the taxes you owe for the year, within a certain percentage, must be paid by December 31st.
However, there are certain refundable credits, and things of that nature, depending on how much you make, but hourly employees must pay taxes.
Payment of taxes is not voluntary. All kinds of taxes. From anywhere. Claims to the contrary are pure BS. You can volunteer to pay them before the tax collector comes and takes them.
This bizarre theory comes from a comment from a former IRS Commissioner that has been taken out of context.
He said that “….we have a tax system based on voluntary compliance.” This means that we, as individuals, sit down and complete our own tax returns or pay someone to do it for us.
It does not mean that paying taxes is voluntary. Only Tax Protesters believe that and they have never been victorious in court.
The Supreme Court has never said that wages from labor are not taxable. Again, tax protesters take cases out of context and put unrelated cases together to form a bizarre theory that means that they don’t have to pay. Unfortunately for them, they are wrong.
File your returns and pay your taxes. You will be much happier in the long run.
You are really reading the Internal Revenue Code incorrectly. Your arguement has been tried very many times in court and has lost. In fact if you use this arguement the court is very likely to access you an additional penalty.
The Internal Revenue Code states that all income is taxable.
