Check with your accountant but I would say you have to do one from your last year end until now.

You would be better advised by an accountant than a public forum like this. They do that stuff for a living.

file taxes online and Can I File Taxes Online With Form 4852?

file taxes online:

Question by Bob Larkin: Can I File Taxes Online With Form 4852?
My previous employer went out of business and did not send me a W2. I had the IRS snail mail me a 4852 but now I would like to file taxes online instead. Is it possible to file online if you don’t have a W2 or does it even matter, since it’s all being done online anyway? I can’t find any relevant information on the IRS site, and I’m rather ignorant about taxes and have never done my own taxes.

You’ll have to file that by mail.

Found my tax return in Can i file my federal taxes with turbo tax then come back after i recieve my federal return and file my state?

my tax return:

Question by Brandon: Can i file my federal taxes with turbo tax then come back after i recieve my federal return and file my state?
I want to file my federal taxes first by mail and then after i get my federal return in my account. I would like to file for my state taxes since then i will have money on my card for turbotax to deduct the state tax fee. Is this possible?

Best answer:

Answer by Count Your Blessings
Yes. So long as your state taxes are filed before the 18 April deadline, you’re fine.

Filing by snail mail is not a speedy process however. You need to anticipate 6-8 weeks of processing time by the IRS. Using direct deposit to your checking or savings acct will help speed up the deposit process a bit.

Good luck!

I did not file income tax return for the past 10 years?

file tax return:

Question by Chu K: I did not file income tax return for the past 10 years?
I am an USA citizen (California resident). I moved to Taiwan 10 years ago to teach English. In the past 10 years, I file tax return in Taiwan, but I thought I don’t need to file tax return in USA and California. I earn approx. US$ 30,000 every year. Now I am applying green card for my wife. The embassy here ask me to file tax return for year 2005. My questions are:

1. Do I need to file income tax return (Fed and CA) for the past 10 years now?

2. Would I be penalized for not filing in the past?
3. Is private tutor income qualified for foreign earned income credit? If my students did not give me invoice, what kind of supporting document is needed?

Best answer:

Answer by bostonianinmo
I’d strongly suggest that you consult with a CPA or tax attorney. Among other things, you must file a timely return to claim the foreign earned income exclusion. You may well be penalized for late filing and payment of any taxes due. Those tax years are all still open and need to be closed. As I said, you need professional help and you need it quickly.
